Hello and Happy July! We are well into the swing of the summer season with our area Farmer's Market running each Saturday from 8am to Noon. We have also been experiencing warmer than usual temperatures this season and since discovered that our chickens have decided that it is time to play a game of chance with us on whether we will have enough eggs to sell to all of the customers that want them. One day a few weeks ago we rejoiced in finding 22 eggs out of a possible 30 laying hens in our flock. Thinking that we were set for the season, the next trips to the barn over the following days produced 8 eggs one day and a paltry 6 eggs the next. Accepting defeat and realizing that this just may be how the season may go, a trip a few days later resulted in 16 eggs. Talk about a gamble.
